Our Approach to Transitional Youth Housing
Oasis Village’s Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) Program supports young people aged 16-29 who are moving toward independent adulthood. Many participants are transitioning from child welfare, the justice system, or mental health services.
Our approach focuses on:
Core Life Skills Development
At the heart of our program is a strong emphasis on teaching practical life skills that are essential for independent adulthood. Through hands-on guidance and mentorship, youth learn:
Budgeting and financial literacy – managing money, paying bills, saving, and financial planning
Meal preparation and cooking skills – creating healthy, affordable meals
Household management – cleaning routines, time management, and personal organization
Self-care and daily living routines – prioritizing health and wellbeing in everyday life
Mental Health Support Services
For adults living with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or trauma-related conditions.
Our goal is to provide a stable home environment with access to therapeutic supports, daily living assistance, and recovery-focused care that promotes self-sufficiency and personal growth.
Education, Employment & Community Integration
We actively support youth in reaching their academic and career goals by offering:
Educational support – help with enrolling in school or GED programs, tutoring, and academic goal setting
Employment readiness – resume writing, interview preparation, job search assistance, and workplace expectations
Community engagement – connecting youth to local services, volunteering opportunities, and recreational programs to build social networks and a sense of belonging
Developmental Support Services
For individuals with developmental disabilities who benefit from structured, consistent support in daily living.
We focus on skill development, communication, social inclusion, and quality of life, empowering each person to live as independently and meaningfully as possible within a supportive community setting.
